World Legends Hockey League in Straubing

From April 8th to 9th the finals of the „World Legends Hockey League“ took place in Straubing/Germany. The „World Legends Hockey League“ was founded in Moscow in 2015 and is officially recognized by the IIHF. President of this special format is no less than a figure than the Russia’s former hockey superstar Pavel Bure. What makes this league so remarkable? Only former players of a national team older than 45 years, who have competed in at least one IIHF tournament, are authorized to play in the „World Legends Hockey League“.
In 2017 the nations Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic and Slovakia contested for the title in the final tournament. hockeydata was exclusively allowed to contribute the official statistics. The Russian team could once again ensure the title with a 6:4 win against the Czech Republic.
