Company foundation

With a lot of passion and the vision to develop something brand new in sport statistics Martin Vejvar and Rene Ortner established the company hockeydata in 2004. The new software is used in the Austrian league “NHL-Graz” and administers the game operations of 35 teams.

The first international tournament
Zell/See, Austria
Following the corporate philosophy “hockey for every standard and on international level” hockeydata supports the “World Tournament” in Zell am See (AUT) in 2005. Those responsible of the biggest youth tournament in Central Europe are enthusiastic about the new features and the perceptible simplification of the tournament organisation.

Red Bulls Face-Off
Salzburg, Austria
Red Bull becomes aware of the many advantages and the good feedback about the statistic software of hockeydata. This results into an invitation to the tournament “Red Bulls Face-Off” and hockeydata accepts responsibility for the whole tournament statistics.

Product “data:board” is put into operation
Hart/Graz, Austria
hockeydata takes the next step and enlarges its product range. Due to dissatisfaction with classic “home/away” scoreboards hockeydata develops the software solution “data:board” which combines displaying game time, result and score with new multimedia features such as line-ups, advertisement and statistical analysis. At the new hockey rink in Hart near Graz the first “data:board” is put into service.

Red Bulls Salute
Salzburg, Austria
The event “Red Bulls Face-Off” is transformed into the “Red Bulls Salute” which is now the biggest European tournament for first-class pro hockey teams. Also the North American “L.A. Kings“ participate in this year and hockeydata gets in touch with the first team of the famous NHL. Since then hockeydata is in charge of all Red Bulls Salute tournaments.

e-grep UEFA Futsal Cup
Graz, Austria
The ambitious soccer variation “Futsal” left its mark on hockeydata. The qualifying round of the UEFA futsal Cup 2008 is held in Graz (AUT) and hockeydata is responsible for all statistical logging of data. Also the screen solution “data:board” is in use during the whole tournament. On the basis of this successful involvement the hockeydata team may also take care of the Austria’s National Futsal League in the following years.

The first Austrian regional hockey association
Styria, Austria
As the first Austrian regional hockey association, the Styrian STEHV, decides to hand over the whole administration to hockeydata. This includes not only the statistics and game operation but also the application system and players administration for ice hockey and inline hockey. Only 36 months later follows the regional hockey association of Lower Austria.

Rewritable player license cards
Graz, Austria
hockeydata reaches another milestone in cooperation with the “National Hockey League Graz”: the whole player license system is changed over to a modern version of check identification cards, using a rewritable(!) surface as medium. For the first time it is possible to remark important information directly and forgery-proof on the player license during the current championship. With this feature hockeydata puts down a marker concerning environmental issues as well: expired licenses can be rewritten and reused anytime!

Cooperation with Servus TV/Erste Bank Eishockey Liga starts
Salzburg, Austria
hockeydata signs a contract with the television broadcaster Servus TV and becomes a major part in full HD-quality TV productions of Austria’s top-level hockey league, the “Erste Bank Eishockey Liga” (EBEL). Every game, which is broadcasted on television, is analysed and statistically recorded by at least three stats keepers of hockeydata. The captured data is directly transformed into graphic templates, which can be put on air in real time.

Graphics and data gathering for the Red Bull Media House/Ice hockey

It is not just the data gathering anymore! hockeydata takes over the responsibility for the whole Servus TV television graphics projects in hockey and acts as general contractor for graphical inserts during the live broadcasted games. For this new task hockeydata develops the editorial system “onAir”. In a web browser all graphical contents can easily be edited and automatically generated with statistical data – before or even during the show!

The German hockey league - DEL
Germany
Next stop: Germany! Servus TV appreciates the successful work in the Austrian hockey league EBEL and engages hockeydata for the German league DEL as well. In this project hockeydata pays particular attention on television graphics and statistical operating, the editorial analysis of statistical data.

American Football

A new sport affiliates into the statistical portfolio! Starting with season 2014, hockeydata takes care of the Austrian Football League (AFL) in statistical matters. This support includes the detailed statistical capturing of all plays and drives during the game by stats keepers on the scene as well as the web integration of this data. Hereby all data is live updated and immediately available for all fans, teams, media and players!

American Football European Championship

The data gathering for American football experiences a first highlight – hockeydata supervises the statistics of the European Championships held in Austria. All data gathered by the stats keepers are published on the official website of the EC. Through its accuracy and the speed of updates the statistics arouse enthusiasm in the international audience as well.

Trencin/Slovakia
hockeydata is the official statistics partner of the “European University Hockey League“ - the next international coup! At the start nine university teams of three nations (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria) are competing for the championship of the league (“EUHL” for short). In the years ahead additional nations such as Germany, Sweden or France are supposed to follow the project.

Cooperation with the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation

hockeydata takes the next big step in Austria – with several local hockey federations already working exclusively with the hockeydata services, the whole Austrian Ice Hockey Federation (OEHV) decides to incorporate the hockeydata system. Besides the management of all games a nation-wide standardized electronical game report system is introduced, seamlessly integrated in the administration of the player registration and licensing of all Austrian hockey players. In conjunction with the management staff of the OEHV hockeydata extends and improves the system steadily.

In conjunction with the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation, the highest league of Austria -the “Erste Bank Eishockey Liga“ - its junior leagues forges a cooperation with hockeydata using the latest statistic system including the complete coverage via online scoring. Moreover, the long-term goal of all involved is the comprehensive collection of time-on-ice data to raise the league to the highest European level.

"Servus Alpenpokal 2016"

hockeydata sticks to working on the ice but changes the sport. Servus TV hosts the “Servus Alpenpokal”, Europe’s biggest tournament for Bavarian curling, for the fist time. hockeydata specifically develops a statistics software for this sport and the gigantic live broadcast. The hockeydata team is on site for the statistic gathering as well as for the TV and event graphics.

ORF project "Guten Morgen Österreich"

In cooperation with the partner NEP Germany hockeydata starts into a new scope: for the morning show “Guten Morgen Österreich” by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF. hockeydata provides the service of graphic operating from 6 to 9 am. Together with the team of the ORF the employees of hockeydata are on tour throughout Austria every week from Monday to Friday.

Sky Austria completes the hockey broadcasting

In addition to Servus TV also Sky Austria broadcasts the games of the “Erste Bank Eishockey Liga”. Thanks to many years of experience in the TV section the services of hockeydata are engaged by Sky Austria as well. hockeydata is now responsible for the statistics gathering during all live games.

European Youth Olympic Festival 2017

World Legends Hockey League

hockeydata is exclusively allowed to contribute the official statistics to the finals of the „World Legends Hockey League“ in Straubing/Germany. A very special tournament - only former players of a national team older than 45 years, who have competed in at least one IIHF tournament, are authorized to play in the „World Legends Hockey League“.

The German hockey federation relies on hockeydata

Following the Austrian hockey federation also the German hockey federation “Deutsche Eishockey-Bund e.V. (DEB)” uses the software solutions of hockeydata. In a next step the gathering of statistics in all leagues, which belong to the German hockey federation, is performed with the electronic game report “e-grep”. This enables a comprehensive live scoring!

Cooperation with Force8
Zurich
hockeydata and the Swiss company Force8, which develops team and athlete management systems (AMS), are now in a close cooperation! As a first step both sports tech companies are focussing on ice hockey, since their systems are already widely used in this field of sport. The data of the systems of hockeydata (game statistics, electronic game reports, game and player administration) will be synchronized with the AMS My Ice Hockey of Force8 and thus stored in the My Ice Hockey user accounts of the teams and players, so that the customers themselves no longer have to enter or upload data manually.
